From the Fall 2010 fashion runways of Tory Burch and Peter Som to brand new launches from key industry players like Chanel, Nars and Make Up For Ever, one thing is clear: lipstick is back and bigger than ever.

And now is not the time to be a shrinking violet. The most popular shades are bold purples, reds and fuchsias that instantly transform and brighten your look with just one quick swipe.

"Most women have very little time to spend on their makeup, but they want an instant lift. Lipstick is timeless, and it's the quickest way for women to immediately look polished and classic," says Gina Brooke, artistic director of Hourglass Cosmetics and personal makeup artist to Madonna.

Brooke attributes the trend in part to celebrities like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, who have had fun with in-your-face color and made the avante garde the everyday norm.

"People should step outside of their comfort level, and said, 'I love that fuchsia, and I'm going to wear it in the middle of fall, and I don't care!'" says Brooke.

As for the most modern way to wear lipstick, glossy textures have made way for matte finishes that are creamier and more breathable than their '90's counterparts.

"I recommend choosing a bold shade of red lipstick and wearing it with matte foundation and a natural-looking cheek," Dany Sanz, creator and artistic director of Make Up For Ever, tells StyleList.

British Magazine Essentials Bans Models in Favor of Real Women

Models? We don't need no stinkin' models!
British women's magazine Essentials has decided to replace catwalkers and celebrities with real women in response to reader demand, it has announced.
The decision comes after a recent survey found that more than 70 percent of readers said they would prefer to see real women than professional models.
(Fair enough. We've all had our share of Gisele overload.)
Essentials' October issue -- on sale now -- is kicking things off by featuring 10 actual readers, including a 71-year-old grandmother, on its cover.
According to the magazine, the new cover girls were selected after submitting their photos and bios in June. Essentials is also welcoming readers to apply to pose for future issues (but not so fast -- you have to live in the UK).
"We're looking for amazing women that really reflect the magazine's readership, so women of all shapes, ages, and sizes," style director Lucy Turner says in video about the new campaign.
"It's a real celebration of Essentials women."
Both the cover and editorial pages will feature readers, though advertisements will include professional models.
Essentials is not the first women's magazine to give models the boot. As we reported previously, German magazine Brigitte also recently made the switch from catwalkers to civilians.

We've seen some tacky lingerie in our time, but this really takes the cake.
A Chinese lingerie brand inspired by Princess Diana is featuring the late royal -- on the 13th anniversary of her death, no less -- in bra and panties as part of its new campaign, the Daily Mail reports.
Yesterday Jealousy International unveiled a new billboard for its Diana underwear range, urging shoppers to "Feel the Romance of British Royalty" and depicting a lingerie- and tiara-clad Diana look-alike playing a cello for a small child, according to the paper.
Um, yeah.
While a representative for Prince Charles had no comment, a British traveler told the Daily Mail his reaction to the shocking ad.
"I was just going to collect my baggage from the carousel when I saw it flash up on a rolling advertising screen and couldn't quite believe what I was seeing," Sam Chambers said of the airport billboard.
"I thought, surely not, because it was rolling quite quickly. So I waited to check when it came up again and, sure enough, there was an image of Diana."
Disturbing! Then again, it's not the first time a royal's underwear has gotten some attention -- Queen Victoria's knickers raised eyebrows when they were declared a "national treasure" last year.
In other royal news, Princess Beatrice has ranked high on the World's Hottest Bikini Bodies List.

Jessica Szohr Talks Nylon Cover Look, Feather Earrings, and 'Twilight' Hunk Kellan Lutz

"Gossip Girl" star Jessica Szohr was in Manhattan's trendy Meatpacking District on Tuesday night to launch the TV issue of downtown style bible Nylon magazine, the cover of which she graces. The actress chatted with StyleList, flanked by her cast mate and real-life boyfriend, Ed Westwick, Nylon editor-in-chief Marvin Scott Jarrett, model/designer Jessica Stam, "GG" co-star Leighton Meester, and actor/singer Jared Leto.

"It's, like, waking up in your pajama shirt and your pajama shorts in the morning and throwing a blazer on that was just on your throw-chair to go make coffee in the kitchen," the tattooed Szohr chuckled as she explained her cover look at hot spot SL. "I think it worked well!"

In practice, that meant a jacket in a strong geometric print by Suno, a long-sleeved lace top by Calvin Klein Collection and a tiny pair of shorts from Alternative Apparel. At the party, she was keeping cool in a pair of satin slacks by Chris Benz, the hip downtown designer who was also at the club to pay his regards.

"I like to be comfortable," the Op model says of her personal style. "I think it's cool to take risks and add a little funkiness to it, but in general. I like to be chill and easy." She even admits that she has taken a few style tips from her "Gossip Girl" character, Vanessa Abrams.

"She wears every color and style and shape and shoe and accessory, and I've started to do that more," Szohr said. "I think it's helped me -- I have fun with it. And if you're fun and comfortable in something that you're trying to express with style, how can you really go wrong? So I've adopted a little bit of Vanessa into my own taste."

As for her personal must haves this summer, Szohr said: "For the last six months I've been into the feathered earrings, but not both. Because I really think [both] is too much. I wear one once in a while. And I'm really into Chris Benz tomboyish pants right now, and a couple dresses he's got coming out. Those are my go-tos: Chris Benz and one feathered earring!"

In addition to starring in this summer's horror-comedy, "Piranha 3D," the actress has been in New Orleans filming "Love, Wedding, Marriage" with actor/Calvin Klein underwear model Kellan Lutz and Mandy Moore (whose infamous ex, Wilmer Valderrama, also made a late appearance at the party).

"Mandy Moore is the most sweet, down-to-earth, lovely person. Kellan and I have been friends for a while and it's crazy to film a movie with him, with how big 'Twilight' is," she said. "I thought working on 'Gossip Girl' and seeing how people go crazy about all the characters was a lot. But working with him -- oh my God, it was insane!"
